Happy Eclipse Day!
Had a BBQ with Cassandra and Alex and Antonio. Absolutely the BEST chicken I've ever cooked! Mmm...!

Trying an electronic means of communication again...so soon!
Thinking about the real world--is it still there?
You know, this is strange...blogging about the fact that we don't connect the same way when we try to connect through electronic means. And yet...what? Are the other ways too much work? How did we connect before the internet? If you were close, I would go over to your house. I'd bring you something that you needed or that I found interesting. If you were far, I'd call or send a handwritten (or typewritten) letter. Or send something to you that meant something. However the connection happened, you knew it was meant for you. I had actually thought of you and took the time to act on my thoughts. Now I'm typing this and posting it on a blog that rarely is updated and is aimed at____________fill in the blank. Maybe family will read this. Maybe a random stranger will stumble on this and it will ring true for him or it will look like he's reading a rant from someone who is depressed. I'm not. Not at all. I'm not planning to, hoping to, going to stop using the internet and impersonal media channels to put thoughts out as they come to me. No, it's just that I am planning to, hoping to, going to get back to non-digital means of communicating with the world in general and with those I love in particular. I'm going to learn something by reading ink printed on paper, such as a book. I'll hand-write a (short) letter--and mail it. I'll give someone a real smile not a :-).

This is my first attempt at Mobile Blogging from my iPhone. This may be a good way to get stuff loaded here more frequently. Or not.... We'll see.

Life is not that much different than it was when I last posted. EXCEPT I did have a Great-Grandson!! Yeah, that makes a difference. :-) Well, it's very cool and I don't feel very old. It IS funny that my daughter is a grandmother. :-D

My sweet little girl being attacked by an alien. It had already caused contraction of facial features on her left side by the time I got there. If I hadn't grabbed the alien and destroyed it, eventually her entire body would have been shrunken to the point where she would be held hostage within the alien's shell! (She managed a complete recovery. You'd never be able to tell how close to miniaturizing she came.) All's well that ends shell, I guess.

Sabbath Rest
It's amazing to me that you can feel rested and refreshed on Sabbath even when the "everyday" stresses of life are as intense as ever. Supernatural. Thanks God!

The Holidays?!
I have always believed that the word "holiday" implied a day or period if time when one could expect family and/or friends or complete solitude, but behind it all was the idea of a pleasant spell of relaxation and rest. Hmm....
Since Thanksgiving Day we have had two Thanksgiving celebrations in towns 150 miles apart, the planning and executing of a daughter's wedding, planning and executing of a Christmas gathering, babysitting a happy hyper grandson over New Year's Eve, and an unexpected sudden round trip of 350 miles! So...can I have a "holiday" with my wife now? ;-)
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

Thanksgiving 2009
We went to Jeremy & Lisha's for dinner. They fixed the dinner provided a warm comfortable environment and a pleasant family structure. It was wonderful! Thanks guys!

New Start?
I'm trying a new app that might make blogging worth doing. We'll see.

Here is a picture that includes the two grandkids who are missing from our life right now. Andy in the front and Jessica in the pink shirt. We love you guys. Can't wait to see you again!

Here are all the kids and grandkids in Fort Bragg for Mother's Day. It was wonderful to see all of our family together at once. On the other hand, we will never feel like our family is complete until it is: when Andy and Jessica Westcott can come back to their real family. In the meantime there is a whole in our hearts where those kids belong. God bless them!
A New Beginning
I just wanted to let anyone who's interested that I will be writing a little more often. I have a good reason to again.

One More Time...
Well, it's been a long while! I don't know who I'm writing this to so I won't go on too long, but I just wanted to appear undead. I'll put some pix up perhaps before too long.

I've been teaching Alex how to play a little blues harmonica. He seems to get into it. I think he's got the knack! He's especially cool playing the blues with his Winnie the Pooh sunglasses on!
It was great to have our son visit us during the Thanksgiving weekend!!! As you can see, we only barely managed to get him to sit down and eat anything. We love feeding him whatever he wants--although his request for milk in a bottle was a little shocking. You can see, he was serious! So anyway, he finished that up quickly before...
